About

The COMBURA symposium is the major annual event for exchange of information on combustion research and its practical applications, in the Netherlands. It is an initiative of the Nederlandse Vereniging voor Vlamonderzoek NVV (Netherlands Association for Flame Research), and is co organized with the DSCI (Dutch Section of the Combustion Institute).

Participants from universities, research institutes, and industrial companies in the Netherlands and surrounding countries are invited. The latest developments and innovations in advanced combustion research will be presented, with emphasis on potential for application in industry. In addition, the symposium offers unique chances to expand and maintain your professional network!

Topics of interest include theoretical, modelling and/or experimental work related (but not limited) to:

  • Power to gas/power to fuel

  • Bio-fuels

  • Carbon capture

  • Processes

  • Boilers

  • Heaters

  • Engines

  • Gas turbines

  • Space propulsion

Call for submissions

Contributions are invited in all areas of combustion. Participants can choose to either submit an abstract for conference presentation (oral) or for the poster session. There is a limited number of spots for conference presentations, but the poster session will have a prominent place in the program!

Oral contribution

Please plan for a 20 minute talk. To participate, please submit an Abstract of maximum 2 pages using the provided template. Save your submission as a pdf.

  • The format will consist of a 15 minutes presentation followed by 5 minutes of questions

  • Slides for presentation should be provided in a 16:9 format

Poster contribution

A poster session will be organized for participants from industry, research institutes, universities and others to present their recent results. Posters must be printed, and be brought by the participants.

  • Please bring your printed poster in an A1 format

  • Instructions on when and how to setup your poster will be communicated closer to the date

Important deadlines

  • Deadline for oral/poster submission: October 2nd 2026

  • Notification of acceptance: October 12th 2026

  • Do not forget to register ! Registration closes October 15th 2026
